What is Stabilized Aqueous Ozone (SAO)?
Stabilized Aqueous Ozone, or SAO, is water infused with ozone that has been stabilized using patented technology from Tersano, Canada. Regular aqueous ozone breaks down back into water within just 15-30 minutes. SAO, however, maintains its cleaning and disinfecting power for up to 24 hours.
This difference transforms ozone water from a laboratory curiosity into a practical, everyday cleaning solution for hotels, hospitals, food factories, offices, and more. No longer do you need to produce it and use it immediately.
How SAO works
The SAO production process starts with tap water flowing through the SAO-24 cartridge, the core component of the technology. The SAO-24 removes minerals and contaminants that accelerate ozone decomposition from the water.
Once the filtered water is infused with ozone (O3), the ozone dissolves into clean, mineral-free water where there is nothing to cause rapid breakdown. The ozone molecules remain stable for far longer than they would in untreated water. The result is stabilized aqueous ozone that cleans and disinfects effectively for up to 24 hours.
After use, SAO naturally breaks down into water and oxygen, leaving zero chemical residue on surfaces.
The role of the SAO-24 cartridge
The SAO-24 cartridge is what makes SAO fundamentally different from regular aqueous ozone.
A single SAO-24 cartridge supports up to 3,000 liters of SAO production and lasts 12-24 months depending on usage. Once expired, it can be recycled.
How SAO differs from regular aqueous ozone
Many people confuse SAO with regular aqueous ozone. Here are the key differences:
Stability Regular aqueous ozone breaks down within 15-30 minutes and must be used immediately. SAO stays effective for 24 hours, allowing you to fill spray bottles in the morning and use them all day.
Consistency Regular aqueous ozone performance depends on local water quality. Areas with hard water get weaker results. SAO delivers consistent results every time because the SAO-24 cartridge removes interfering minerals first.
Certifications Regular aqueous ozone has no specific certifications as a cleaning agent. SAO is certified by the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), NSF (health and sanitation standards), and Green Seal (environmental product standards).
Safety SAO has a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) rating of 0-0-0-A, the highest safety level possible. This means no health hazards, no flammability, no chemical reactivity, and no protective equipment required.
Patent SAO technology is patented by Tersano and cannot be replicated. Regular aqueous ozone generators use open technology with no quality standards.

Disinfection performance
SAO has been tested by multiple independent laboratories confirming 99.99% pathogen elimination, including:
- Bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and Staphylococcus aureus
- Viruses such as Norovirus and Influenza
- Fungi such as Aspergillus and Candida
Research from Fujita Health University in Japan also demonstrated that SAO significantly reduces SARS-CoV-2 viral load.
SAO products from Prozon
Prozon is the exclusive authorized Tersano distributor in Thailand. Three SAO product lines are available:
lotus PRO v9 The enterprise-grade SAO dispenser. Wall-mounted like a water cooler, it is designed for hotels, hospitals, food factories, and any facility that needs high-volume SAO production. Includes IoT monitoring for real-time usage tracking.
iClean Mini A compact SAO unit that installs under a sink. Ideal for restaurants, cafes, small offices, and residential use.
SAO-24 Cartridge The heart of the system, compatible with both lotus PRO v9 and iClean Mini. Supports 3,000 liters and is recyclable.
Why businesses in Thailand should switch to SAO
Thailand's hot and humid climate creates ideal conditions for pathogen growth, making effective cleaning and disinfection critical, especially in industries with strict hygiene standards.
Lower long-term costs SAO is produced from tap water. No more purchasing separate cleaning agents and disinfectants. Businesses report 80-90% reduction in chemical cleaning costs.
Safer for staff No chemical fumes, no skin irritation, no protective equipment needed. Reduced occupational health risks.
Environmentally friendly No chemical-contaminated wastewater, fewer plastic bottles from cleaning products, and reduced carbon footprint from chemical transportation.
Internationally certified EPA, NSF, and Green Seal certifications help businesses meet HACCP, ISO, and GMP requirements with confidence. Visit our Trust page for full certification details.
